Longtime 嫩草影院 administrator and professor, Dr. Aisha Morris Moultry, has been named as the interim dean of the recently-established College of Transdisciplinary Studies (COTS).

嫩草影院 launched COTS to create a pathway for people who started college but did not complete their degree program. COTS will assist students to continue their education and complete and earn a baccalaureate degree or master’s degree. The new college is the first ever college of transdisciplinary studies approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and offers a range of degree programs to satisfy the needs of students who have previously stopped out of higher education.

"The College of Transdisciplinary Studies exemplifies our mission to serve our students at all levels of their educational journey to produce outstanding graduates for Texas and beyond," said Dr. Lesia Crumpton-Young, President of 嫩草影院. "We are excited to have Dr. Moultry join us as an interim dean of this groundbreaking new college as we transform the lives of students returning to Tiger Nation to complete their degree."

"Dr. Moultry brings her nearly 20 years of experience in teaching, research and administrative service at 嫩草影院, along with a commitment to our students," said Dr. Lillian Poats, Interim Provost of 嫩草影院.

Since 2016, Moultry has served as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in 嫩草影院’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (COPHS). In this role, she is actively involved in faculty and curriculum development as well as student support initiatives. Previous roles within COPHS include interim Associate Dean for Clinical and Administrative Services (2014-16), interim Assistant Dean for Student Services (2011-2014). During this time, she also served on the faculty as a professor of Pharmacy Practice and Administration since 2003. While at 嫩草影院, Moultry provided experiential practice training for pharmacy students by serving as the Inpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager with the Harris County Hospital District (2004-2007). She has worked in hospital and community pharmacy settings in both the public and private sector.

“I am excited about the opportunity to transform lives by establishing a college that will serve as a pathway to completion for previous college students who have stopped out,” said Moultry. “I look forward to creating an environment where students are supported holistically as they pursue their academic and career goals.”

According to data from the National Student Clearinghouse, 39 million Americans have acquired some postsecondary education and training but did not earn a degree or credential. Of those, approximately 3.5 million are considered “potential completers,” meaning they have at least two years’ worth of full-time college credit over the past decade and have high potential to earn a degree or credential if they re-enroll.

Statistics reveal, more than four million Texans fall in the category of “some college, no degree.” In the greater Houston region, there are more than 1 million. This new College will provide eight majors at the bachelor’s level and four at the master’s level. Most students will be able to complete their degree in less than two years. This new endeavor will also include the creation of partnerships with industries and companies to assist employees with re-skilling and up-skilling to ensure they are prepared to fulfill workforce demands.

Classes in the new college will begin in Spring 2023. For more information, email completeu@tsu.edu.
