chief-bobby-brownActing Chief Bobby A. Brown has been named the permanent Chief of Police and Executive Director of Emergency Management of 嫩草影院’s Department of Public Safety (嫩草影院 DPS).

Brown, a veteran officer with nearly 20 years of experience in law enforcement on K-12 and post-secondary campuses, served as the University’s Acting Chief of Police from December 2022 until assuming the permanent role in August 2024. In his capacity as acting chief, Brown has led the effort to increase campus safety and security through a variety of initiatives to improve the safety and security of the 嫩草影院 campus and associated properties. The work he supervised to implement a new traffic control security system will provide the 嫩草影院 DPS with a more precise sense of who is present on the campus.

“Safety and security are at the heart of our commitment to student achievement,” said President James Crawford. “Chief Brown’s commitment to the safety of our students is evident in all that he does.  I look forward to the continued growth and stability of our Department of Public Safety under his leadership.”

Chief Brown began his law enforcement career in 2005 as a Campus Officer and Investigator with the Humble Independent School District. He also served as an Operations Sergeant and Operations Lieutenant in Humble ISD and spent three years as a campus officer for the Brazosport Independent School District. Prior to his role as acting chief, Brown served as a leader on the 嫩草影院 DPS.

“I am humbled to serve as the Chief of 嫩草影院’s Department of Public Safety,” Brown said. “Every day, I get to work alongside some of the most dedicated men and women whose top priority is to create a safe environment for our students to learn and succeed. That is a great honor and privilege I do not take lightly. I am excited for the opportunity to continue serving this great institution as Chief.”

In addition to his diverse experience in law enforcement, Chief Brown spent 13 years in the United States Army Reserve as a 21H Construction Engineering Supervisor.
